The Institute of Architects of Brazil - Department of São Paulo (IABsp) opens a call for papers for the 13th edition of the International Architecture Biennale of São Paulo, with the purpose of bringing together proposals for the exhibition Produções Insurgentes (Insurgent Productions), which will take place in the city of São Paulo in May 21 to July 10, 2022.

Produções Insurgentes (Insurgent Productions) seeks to receive works in various languages, in which questions, reflections or proposals are present, mainly related to the body-territory relationship through the slant of its erasures and resistances in its multiple unfoldings and that stimulate a critical reflection on the understanding of the contemporary space, culture and architecture.

  • popular, vernacular, marginal and insurgent architectural and construction practices;

  • ancestral routes and their contemporary developments, immigrations and migrations;

  • territorialities and their historical and contemporary perspectives, places of spiritual and cultural practices and perspectives of cosmovisions, ancestral knowledge and diasporic processes;

  • expulsion, imprisonment and extermination of populations;

  • urban policies, planning, democratic management and the right to the city, conflicts over land, spontaneous and regional solutions, cooperativism and self-management;

  •  privacy issues, data protection, and experimentation with public and private data governance models;

  • invisible bodies and narratives (epistemicide), universal accessibility;

  • agroecology, food security and sovereignty, water, water security, deforestation, climate impacts and emergencies, environmental disasters;

  • material and immaterial heritage, memory and resistance.
