The first stage will be completed on January 18-19, 2021, when, as part of the qualifications-based selection, the jury members will select the teams that will be admitted to the second stage and will be involved in the development of the concepts. Each team will be able to get several sites out of the 31 proposed for development and elaborate concepts for each site. The expert council determines which sites and how many of them will be available for the contestants.

The teams will work on the projects from January 21 to March 26, 2021. The winners of the competition will be selected from 12 to 30 April 2021.

The tasks of the competition include identification of the main types of volume-spatial elements of residential buildings of renovation blocks; formation of a “library of facade solutions”; determination of the principles of interaction of facade solutions and public spaces; cost-effectiveness of the solutions.

The jury and the expert council include representatives of the public and authorities, experts in the field of architecture, economics, marketing, real estate and urban planning.

The purpose of the competition is to form a high-quality urban environment and create an attractive appearance of residential buildings in the capital city. The competition was initiated by the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of Moscow and organized by the Genplan Institute of Moscow.

The participants will be chosen by the jury board of the competition, led by:

Sergei Kuznetsov, Chief Architect of Moscow.

Each team will be rewarded 1 million rubles, including VAT, as compensation for the expenses for the developed concept per one design site.

After the competition is over, the winners will refine the architectural and artistic concepts jointly with the subordinate organizations of the Moscow Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning and take part in project implementation.
