JA HOUSE | HW STUDIO

The designers imagined Casa JA as a discreet and slight horizontal line that underlines the sky and the mountains in the background with the latest rays of sun draining between them.

The main facade is kepthidden from the view of those circulatingthe streets of the Santa Barbaraglen. The designers wanted the house to be so intimate and silent that merely indicated its presence, evading any assumptions, exaggerated exhibition or the typical ostentation of the place where it is situated. The black stone interiors accentuate the cover, highlighting the horizontal line on which the sun, the sky and the mountains would rest.

The magical sunset seen from its site was vital for the designers throughout the design process. The spaces wished to be shaped by the charm of such light that does nothing but produce a particular enchantment.

The house is arrangedinto three blocks set on different levels linked by wide covered and uncovered stairs that form a continuous and fluid space. The rest of the program is organized by the garden, patios and squares, which present a certain introspective, domesticated and silent nature and fill the spaces with such intimacy and The gardens, patios and squares organize the rest of the program, provide a certain introspective, domesticated and silent nature and fill the spaces with such intimacy and recollection reminds a bit of the prehispanic and colonial architecture of some towns in Michoacán.
