Architects Marie-Claude Hamelin and Loukas Yiacouvakis in association with client sculptor Jacek Jarnuszkiewicz designed the house of sculptor Jarnuszkiewicz.

Following the codes of the surrealist’s exquisite cadaver where each designer builds upon the work done by the previous one, the project was conceived.

Located on an immense land overhanging lake trousers, the house is surrounded by chiaroscuro coniferous forest. The designers debated among themselves for each sculptural proposition until verticality, as an effective and clear expression of the given landscape’s character, was agreed upon as the core concept of the project.

Upon establishing the compositional rules, the project was developed from the support of one creator to the other, from volume to plan, from the handling of materials and masses to the upgrowth of interior spaces.

The functioning of masses, two wood volumes, one being light and the other being dark are composed together, the opacity and transparency structural games all make the house fuse with nature and nature merge into the interior spaces of the house.
