It's visibly every bohemian’s dream: verdant botanicals, vintage furniture, old carpets and bold layering of colors and patterns. This description sounds too standardized, doesn’t it? If you were to imagine someone adhering to a bohemian lifestyle, you would easily visualize their hippie inspired outfits and their typical aesthetic interior home design. In case picturing it feels like a difficult task; books, magazines and blogs are filled with tips that have simplified the essence of bohemia into a conventionalized definition.

Evolving into a popular trend worldwide has made bohemia an ambiguous concept that has been oftentimes misinterpreted and somewhat cliché-ridden. To comprehend accurately what bohemian design style conveys, a context look-over is mandatory.

Initially, the bohemian philosophy was forged in France by diverse people, responding to the incongruity of bourgeois ideals and ethics. A way of life based on the quest of pleasure, passion for the arts and expression of genuine creativity. It’s about more than meets the eye. Beyond the physical attire, demeanour and lifestyle, bohemia is essentially a state of mind.

It’s an abstract notion that propels free interpretation. Since every individual could build their own understanding of it, it’s fundamental characteristic is authenticity. Nonetheless, layering freely doesn’t imply replicating standardized bohemian styles. It is all about mixing organically without following any formula.

A peculiar bohemian design style, aside from being fearlessly free, is alive. The simple usage of home plants wouldn’t be enough to bring warmth and vitality to the space. The inhabitant lives the design. Every element interacts with the body and the mind. Feeling the soft breeze, touching the textured wall materials, inhaling the intoxicating smells of nature; those components makes the design lively.

Living in a self-conceived bohemian space , that authentically represents its occupant and indisputably holds meaningful and lively elements; is no less than living life in rosy hues!
