"Hey Jude"
This design proposal attempts to explore the intrinsic connection between music and architecture and the form-generating logic of mutual transformation between the two. In the process of conceptualization, the designer chose the song of the famous rock band The Beatles: "Hey Jude". This song features five instruments of vocal melody, bass, electric organ, jazz drums and Maracas. The designer analyzed the structure of the score for each of the five instruments by translating the scales, rhythms, graphics, and then the space, in an attempt to shape a lyrical space like a song.

The music has five kinds of musical instruments: singing theme, bass, electronic organ, jazz drum, sand hammer and so on. The main melody, bass and electronic organ are musical instruments with scales. The designer has designed three different types of pattern series for these three musical instruments. In each pattern series, the pattern changes regularly according to the scale. Jazz drums and sand hammers are instruments without scales. In the music score, jazz drum presents three different sounds, and the designer has designed three geometric patterns for different sounds; sand hammer has two sounds in total, and runs through the whole song, so the sound of sand hammer is translated into the superposition of two sets of images.

The site is located in the landscape zone of Dongping waterway embankment in Foshan City. The theater is one of the contents in the core section of the landscape zone, serving both the visitors from outside the area and the local residents in the area. Being a reflection of the entertainment function in the landscape zone, the theater should also be shaped into a landmark landscape, exhibiting the cultural characteristics of Sanshan.

As the location of the site is special, the landscape and shape of the building are demanding, and should be a significant architectural element in harmony with the landscape zone, whether from a distance or from a close view.

Reimagining Girangaon "Mills Village"
The Design Narrative is rooted in the historic heritage of the setting which has played a crucial role in building the city of Mumbai as the financial capital of the country. The locality of Byculla and the its surrounding areas were known as ‘Girangaon’ or Mills Land which states the importance of the Mills in the identity of the context and a majority of the population of the area. The abandoning of the textile mills led to thousands of locals losing their livelihood along with their sense of belonging. The mills not only represented a source of commerce but also a whole Mill Culture that developed for the context of ‘Girangaon’ without which the region has lost its urban identity. Responding to this need of a space that can bring the diverse communities of Byculla as one cohesive whole like the mills once did, the design intervention aims at creating a public space that revamps the image of the locality. The intent is to reinterpret the Mill Typology and its essence in a spatial, visual and symbolic way to give a reminiscence of the heritage that once was. In doing so, the project hopes to change the perspective of how the mills are currently viewed into a place that the locals can have a sense of ownership and connect towards. The goal ultimately, is to reactivate the neighborhood and add to its imageability.

Taking Shanghai's new-style lilong residential buildings as the object of transformation, the triple-buildings were transformed into a small office community for operation and design services. The office community design hopes to emphasize user premises, connectivity and sense of community, and sustainability.

STUDIO OF DESIGNER
The pandemic reminds us of the importance of valuing the individual value of the employees, whose health and well-beings are closely linked to the productivity of their companies. To this end, a double-height hall on the second floor is set at the entrance, and a multi-functional spiral staircase device is placed. Employees can givespeeches, discuss, relax and watch exhibitions here, making it a small "urban living room". Building space from the perspective of users encourages more activecommunication and cooperation
between employees within a safe distance in the post-epidemic era, and truly inspires the value of officespace. Aware that modernpeople work under great pressure, our design brings into the meditative space. At the same time, we pay attention to the preservation of the spirit of Shanghai Alley. We respect the original site scale and retain the patio and other characteristic of the space.

CONNECTIVITY AND COMMUNITY
Inspired by the harmonious neighborhood activities of Shanghai Lilong residential houses, the spirit ofplace is extracted into our design, which has undergone changes in times and functions. The front sectionof the first and second floors of the room is opened. When employees walk, watch the exhibition and sit down for discussion on the stairway device in the hall, they will look at each other: the line of sight will touch each other or one part is in the perspective of staring, that is, "staring at the ring". This is also our discussion of "connectivity and community" in the post-PANDEMIC era-creating a workplaceexperience with a sense of belonging can increase people's confidence in returning to the office.

SUSTAINABILITY
In the renovation, we kept all the Windows and tried to maximize the penetration of natural light in the spatial layout to reduce the energy consumption of artificial light source. The space flow is transparent, the wind is connected through the loop, combined with the garden, patio, roof and indoor green implantation, to create a healthy and comfortable experience of oxygen bar, and can reduce the use time ofair conditioning. Achieve sustainability within the system.
