The heritage walk of Ahmedabad
The heritage walk of Ahmedabad starts at fifteen minutes to eight in the morning at Swaminarayan Temple. Imagine going there with a group of 40 people on time. This was a very different experience managing with all these people. It was fun, and I got a whole new knowledge about the pol community in Ahmedabad. This walk takes us through the narrow streets of Pol and various heritage monuments, buildings, temples etc., of Ahmedabad. This walk is 2km which takes two and half hours, and end at Jami Masjid.

This photograph is of Pol in Ahmedabad takes us back to the late nineteenth century. A panorama of this Pol reveals an idyllic and easy-going picture of life in the pols. One often sees cows ambling and ruminating lazily, old men chatting, a handful of women performing their daily stints on the “Otla”. A beautifully carved wooden “Chabutara” stands in silence. However, the extraordinary splendour of these Havelis is only visible when one enters them. They are to be sure a feast to the eyes as one finds the brilliance of the sensitive wood cutting in the boards, sections, jaali, windows, etc.

“If I could, I would build only churches”
“If I could, I would build only churches”, said by Mario Botta who has built the Samsung Museum of Art in Seoul. Inside the museum, the most prominent place in the interior is this spiral staircase. This staircase connects all the exhibition halls. To walk from one gallery to another, you need to enter this tower and look at the interior view from the spiral windows. It is quite a feeling of being in a medieval church and tower.
