KNOW MORE ABOUT THE DESIGNERS:

Junshan Center is situated just outside of Beijing and surrounded by the mountain ranges and meandering river near Miyun Reservoir. Being a typical two-story sales building on the outskirts of Beijing, the designers Neri&Hu was asked to convert the existing donut shaped building into an exemplary club house and sales center. Taking advantage of the existing courtyard typology, the designers created two progressions of interconnecting journeys, one for clubhouse member, and the other for guests of the sales center. They designed the programmed spaces such that they are in proximity to nature. The architecture blends harmoniously with nature by the layering of the primary courtyard and smaller gardens.

Representing contextual inspiration, the design is formed by combining traditional northern architecture and contemporary architectural style and by transforming into a new interpretation of architectural expression. Blurring the boundary lines between the interior and exterior, the structure peacefully rises out of the water as a brick mass with spaces carved out for programs interconnected with gardens. The heaviness of the brick facade is softened by the warm-tones, wood pattern aluminum panels on the facade. Moments of the screen connects with each interior space, generating a facade that is instinctive and unique on every face. The foundation of the building mass is formed by using the traditional gold bricks, extending from the outside landscape to the inside in-between spaces. The primary backdrop for the interior is of brick and wood panels, the sculpted ceiling, a common theme throughout the interiors.
