Pavillion A is a tribute to modern architecture, inspired by Philip Johnson’s Glass House and the Ben Rose House from the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. This glass pavilion was designed as a veritable oasis in the center of a garden, welcoming a four-season swimming pool. The space allows various activities during the long Quebec winters, such as relaxing in the spa, breaststrokes in the swimming pool, read under a tropical plant or do yoga while contemplating the snowy nature. In summer, the large open windows on one of the facade allows the pavilion to open onto a long wooden terrace.
The metal structure located outside the glass pavilion gives a floating impression to the roof. There is a contrast between the black exterior structure and the bright and clear interior. The glass walls let in a plethora of natural light and the supply of overhead light is maximized by the skylights installed on the ceiling which also protect from the summer sun. The line between interior and exterior is blurred by the 360 degree glazing, which also contributes to a change of scenery. The ground level interior layouts and its plants help to create a relaxing tropical atmosphere. Privacy zones are provided by the layout of the large strips of vegetation, in the spa, the pool or on the carpet.
